Brown women dominate 2011 Ivy Rugby Championships
The Brown University women put on a dominating performance en route to the 2011 Ivy Championship. Brown faced a tough Princeton team in the finals prevailing 58-0. Brown captain and flanker Izzy McKinnon earned tournament MVP honors narrowly edging out teammate, center Blain Martin for the honors. Princeton women did a superb job organizing and hosting the event.
Saturday evening coaches and team representatives gathered for a historic meeting, agreeing to participate in a women's Ivy League.
Columbia Rugby’s Toughest Challenge?
2011 marks Columbia University Rugby Football Club’s fiftieth year, and the team is celebrating by doing what they’ve been doing for the past half-century: playing rugby. More specifically, they’re pitting the Old Boys against the young—the fat and out of shape against those with decades of practice at being fat and out of shape. Ever the sentimentalist, I flew back to the Morningside Heights campus to sit down with the current team and get their opinions on this hallowed milestone.
Brown Takes Inaugural Ivy Rugby 7s
New York, NY, Brown University won the first annual Ivy League 7s Championship, defeating host Columbia 19-10 in the final.
The field consisted of eight teams, divided into two, four-team pools. Due to the fact that both Princeton and Harvard were no-shows, host Columbia and Dartmouth fielded both A and B teams.
The four teams in each pool played round robin matches. Then, based on their order of finish in pool play, the teams from Pools A&B faced off (1v1), (2v2), (3v3) and (4v4) to establish the Ivy Champion and final standings.
Brown Bears Win First Ivy 7s Championships
The Brown Bears made history yesterday, winning the First Ivy League 7's Tournament on Sunday, hosted by Columbia University, beating Penn, Columbia "B" and Dartmouth in pool play and then defeating Columbia (winner of the other pool) in the final.

The Sweet 16 of Collegiate Division I Rugby
The Sweet 16 of USA Collegiate Division I Rugby will be held on the weekend of April 30th at four regional venues around the country. The venues include the University of California at Santa Barbara California, the National Sports Center in Blaine Minnesota, Bowling Green State University in Bowling Green Ohio and the University of Buffalo in Buffalo New York.

Brown hosts Roger Williams University on Saturday, March 12 with a 1:00 P.M. kickoff. A and B team matches will be played on the field turf field directly behind the Olney Margolis Athletic Center at 215 Hope Street.

Brown Seconds Dominate the Friars for 35-5 Victory
Prop Mohammad Abdallah’11 scored by driving over the line at the 6 minute mark to open up the match. A missed tackle 7 minutes later saw PC with their only points of the game equaling the score at 5 all.
Additional first half scoring was as follows:
27 minutes – lineout drive puts scrum half Daniel Tondreys’14 over for a score(10-5)
32 minutes – Center Chaney Harrison’11 breaks, followed by a series of rucks that puts #8 Landon Turley’12 over for the score (15-5)
