Dartmouth’s Hughes to captain USA in rugby sevens
CHULA VISTA, Calif. – Following the latest of the three Men’s Eagles Sevens High Performance Camps, Head Coach Mike Friday has selected the traveling squad for Gold Coast Sevens, the first stop of the 2014-15 IRB HSBC Sevens World Series.
Dartmouth College’s Madison Hughes was named captain by the coaching staff. The 21-year-old scored 98 points in three Series stops last season.

It was a scorching day on a narrow football turf field- not the ideal conditions for a rugby match- but the athletes seemed focused on the task at hand.
Cornell Rugby Alumni Weekend 2014
Cornell rugby alumni, family and guests are invited to a game day BBQ and pig roast at 12 pm on Saturday, Oct. 18.
The BBQ is a great opportunity to catch up with teammates, watch some rugby and fill your bellies! You may already be in Ithaca for Reunion 2015.
There will be plenty of side dishes and vegetarian options too. The event is free for alums and their families and guests.

Penn women fall to Princeton, 44-15
Even though Penn drew first blood, they were unable to keep up the offensive pressure on the Princeton Tigers. Despite impressive defensive stands, Princeton was able to find holes and capitalize on the Quakers' missteps.
The Tigers outscored Penn 29 to 10 in the first half. The Quakers tightened up their D and played a much more competitive second half scoring once and only allowing 15 second half Princeton points.
Penn tries were scored by from Bridget Amoako (C'17) and Ariana Bray (C'15).
Columbia men 2-1 with win over Cornell
Columbia came on strong in the second half with tries from Keitt, Bradford and Muzikowski to secure a 34-5 victory.
Cornell traveled to Manhattan on the 27th to take on their cross-state rivals Columbia.
Cornell controlled the pace of the game early on, with a try from Lawrence Ntim (Accra, Ghana, '17). Over the course of the second half, however, Columbia overwhelmed the Big Red, piling on both tries and penalty kicks for a final score of 34-5.
Dartmouth men blank Harvard in Boston
Carrying forward the momentum of a 61-10 victory over Cornell in their Ivy League fall opener, the Big Green delivered another impressive performance in Boston this past Saturday.
Discussion across social media and rugby newsletters about Harvard’s 1-0 record abound, Saturday’s meeting with the Crimson held extra import. Coming off a thrice-defeated year against the Dartmouth squad in 2014, Harvard was out for blood. Despite Harvard’s hard charging attitude, the Big Green soundly defeated the Crimson at home, delivering 8 tries while allowing none in a notable 58 – 0 victory.
1st XV Dartmouth Women at Princeton Women
Dartmouth and Princeton, both with byes on league-opening weekend due to late fall terms, faced off this Saturday at Rickerson Field in a much anticipated re-match.
Last year, Dartmouth posted two close victories in fall 15s over Princeton then topped the Tigers one more time in the 2014 Spring Ivy 7s Championship Final.
Albert Edward Pikul, 69
Albert Edward Pikul ("BA"), 69, of Milford, passed away peacefully on September 20, 2014. BA is survived by his four sons including Jan Edward Pikul the longtime coach of the Yale men's team.
