Brown Women 85-0 win in New Haven

The Brown women dominated a determined but young Yale squad, walking off with an 85-0 win in New Haven. All American Blaine Martin 11.5 opened the scoring 3 minutes in gathering in a beautifully placed chip from flyhalf and All American Chelsea Garber '12 and touching down between the posts. Chelsea converted and Brown was up 7-0.

1st XV Columbia Women at Dartmouth Women

The DWRC defeated Columbia 53-7 Saturday afternoon in cold and wet conditions. Dartmouth, in their second week of Ivy League play, played a tight match, adapting to the conditions. Ashley Afranie-Sakyi '13 spearheaded the attack in the back line, coming up with four tries and several long breaks.

Brown Women 41, Dartmouth 12

The Brown women opened Ivy Rugby Conference play with a decisive win over Dartmouth. Led by co-captains Chelsea Garber '12 and Blair Station '12 Brown worked hard to secure ball, disorganize and get behind the Dartmouth defense.

Although Brown's Chelsea Garber and her veteran-speckled backline had a tough time containing or breaking through Dartmouth's powerful centers (Ashley Afranie-Sakyi '13 and Sabrina Amaro '13) they took full advantage of Garber's powerful boot as they kicked their way into scoring position and finished with speedy wings.

Harvard Women @ Columbia Women

The Columbia Women's team hosted Harvard on the football field in the their first inaugural Ivy Women's Rugby League season. With many new players against a Crimson side that was bolstered by players from their US 7s championship team, the CU women had possession on their own ball not a half dozen times all game and then only momentarily. They easily played defense for not less than 85% of the match, yet competed, tackled and chased constantly in the most courageous defensive effort ever witnessed.

Dartmouth Tames Tigers 53-21

After a sluggish performance against Brown last week, Dartmouth Rugby suddenly had a lot of question marks heading into today’s matchup against Princeton, who like The Big Green were still undefeated in Ivy Rugby Conference play.

Big Green Now Lone Unbeaten in Ivy Rugby Conference

Thankfully for the large home crowd at Brophy Field, the team provided the desired answers and then some, dominating the Tigers in route to a 53-21 victory. Dartmouth is now the only unbeaten team in the conference, with two games left to play.

Brown Men 53 - Yale 15

With sole possession of second place on the line, the Bears came to play, overwhelming a young Yale team with four converted first half tries, all scored by motivated seniors playing their last Ivy Rugby Conference match of the season. The entire Brown forward pack deserve an assist for their dominance in the scrums, lineouts and breakdowns.

After several days of rain, game day was a picture perfect October Homecoming Saturday, with a good crowd of rugby alumni, families and friends in attendance. With all of these positives, the murky and unstable field conditions and a strong breeze were potential hazards to overcome.

Receives a Tough Test in Providence

Facing both a tough travel day that saw them leave Hanover before daybreak and a very good opponent in Brown, Dartmouth Rugby found themselves in a dogfight Saturday in Providence. But despite the difficulties posed by their itinerary and opponent, The Big Green still managed to tough it out and get the win 24-17. With the victory, the team moved to 4-0 in Ivy Rugby conference play, setting up a clash of unbeatens next weekend against Princeton.
