Brown 2nd XV 12 Columbia 0
A still shocked Brown team took the field in the 2nd XV match for two 15 minute halves before the Bears made the long drive to Cornell that night.
In the 7th minute, after regular pressure in the Columbia half Blair Cameron’13 missed a drop goal attempt, but Brown kept the pressure on and kept the ball in Columbia territory. Unfortunately Louis Solmonson ‘13 was injured with a ankle sprain in the 9th minute and was forced to leave the game.
Yale Surives Late Try by Cambridge
This week, Yale was able to recruit 30 new players to play rugby. It is a very big mix of athletic talent and size, but as usual, very little experience. The coaching staff is accustom to teaching inexperienced players the game of rugby, just not this many at once. Good organized training sessions this week were so well attended, that we had to bring in a Southern for a controlled scrimmage as an opener to the Cambridge matches.

Yale was able to hold a late Cambridge surge to win 33-27. Standout players for Yale were Mack Hull, Nick Lombardo, Sam Power and the man of the match, Dan O'Brien.

Dartmouth Rugby Captures Two Titles in Granite Cup
On a beautiful early fall day in Hanover, Dartmouth rugby welcomed some of the tops sides from around New Hampshire and Vermont to Corey Ford Rugby Clubhouse in Hanover as part of the annual Granite Cup. Although they had their fair share of struggles on the day, both of the Dartmouth sides that took part proved victorious.
Big Green Back in Action at Granite Cup
After taking on two of the toughest teams in Canada last weekend, Dartmouth Men’s Rugby will look a little closer to home for opponents this weekend as part of the Granite Cup. The one-day tournament will be held Saturday, Sept. 10th at the Corey Ford Rugby Clubhouse in Hanover, and will feature some of the tougher opponents from New Hampshire and Vermont. As a result The Big Green’s 2nd and Development sides, both of which are taking part, will certainly have their work cut our for them.
Big Green Splits Weekend in Dartmouth Rugby Classic
On a beautiful Labor Day weekend in Hanover, Dartmouth kicked off their fall season with a pair of tough tests against top Canadian sides Queen’s University and McGill University as part of the Dartmouth Rugby Classic presented by Rockwood and Royall Rugby. Although The Big Green had a tough start opening game against Queen’s, losing 36-0, they bounced back nicely to defeat McGill 32-15 to get a split on the weekend. Overall, both games were good experiences that helped a 1st XV looking to break in several new starters improve, according to Captain and No. 8 Paul Jarvis ’12.
