Dartmouth Puts Up Strong Fight Against Mystic River, 11-26

Dartmouth faced off against the Mystic River Rugby Club on Mystic’s home field at Pine Banks Park in Malden, MA. Conditions were ideal, allowing the Big Green to test all aspects of their game against one of the premier mens’ clubs in New England.

Brown Men Almost Tames the Beast

Brown in its fourth match over two days, was unable to offset the power of Northeastern University in the final of the Collegiate Men’s First Division final of the 27th annual Beast of the East Rugby Tournament. Brown took second place in what is regarded as one of the premier collegiate spring rugby tournaments along the East Coast.

Harvard defeats Toulouse Universite Club on last minute kick

Having suffered a tough loss in Toulouse last year, the HRFC was determined to achieve a different outcome on a cold, rainy afternoon in Cambridge. The weather was in the HRFC’s favor, as their formidable strength and size advantage was utilized in full force while hampering the Toulouse Universite Club’s excellent passing and speed.

Dartmouth Comes Up Short, 10-17 v. Rutgers

On their second match of the weekend, the Big Green 1st XV found themselves squared off against a physical Rutgers team Sunday morning.

All Ivy Barbarians (AIB) vs. NERFU

Thanks to a last minute scramble, the All Ivy Barbarians took the field against a squad of NERFU selects on Thursday April 15th. The match was the first ever assembly of the All Ivy Barbarians and follows the increased cooperation of all eight Ivy League schools beginning with the formation of the Ivy League Rugby Conference in the fall of 2009.

Dartmouth Flies the Coop with Close Win, 25-19

Better weather couldn’t be asked for as the men in Green stepped off the bus at Lums Pond State Park just outside of Newark, Delaware. The clear skies and light breeze were a nice respite from the damp April weather that the Green had been practicing in all week, and the face-off against the Mid-Atlantic powerhouse Delaware came as a welcome change of scenery, and an opportunity for the New Regime to prove itself on the inter-collegiate stage.

Yale Soundly defeats Brown

Instead of being pumped up from a very productive Bermuda Tour, Brown seemed to have lost its way as Yale beat Brown convincingly 33-17. As in the first Bermuda match versus the Police, the Bears conceded the first half by allowing Yale an 18-5 lead. Yale ran through 3 unconverted tries and added a penalty kick.

Cornell 37 - Cortland 25

Coming off a tough fall campaign against all ivy foes, Cornell took the win versus cross-town rival Colgate. The Cornell Men's A side defeated Cortland Wednesday 37 - 25.

 

Columbia takes Four Leaf Tournament

On Saturday, March 27, the Columbia University Rugby Football Club stepped foot on an American rugby pitch for the first time all year, eager to show off the skills they had honed in France and Italy on their spring tour the week before. The Four Leaf 15s on Randall’s Island proved to be the perfect test for them, with a competitive mix of former Metropolitan New York rivals, new opponents from Pennsylvania, and one all-too-familiar Ivy League foe from New Jersey.
