IRB's Chief Medical Officer Urges Rugby Community: "If in Doubt, Sit it Out"
Martin Raftery is the International Rugby Board's Chief Medical Officer, and he has a message for rugby players everywhere: If you think you have a concussion, you shouldn't play.
Raftery's comments came ahead of the IRB World Rugby Conference and Exhibition, an event that will take place in Dublin, Ireland from November 17-20. "Rugby is a physical contact sport and that is part of the fabric and attraction for those who want to play the game," Raftery said. "However, our duty is to ensure that the sport implements the very best standards of care to protect our players."
Columbia Turns In Strong Performance at Ivy 7s Tournament
Following a season that was disappointing to the club, CURFC entered into the Ivy Sevens tournament with a chip on their shoulder looking for a shot at redemption. Fielding two sides coached by Daniel Kennedy, Columbia traveled to Princeton for the day-long tournament.

The Penn Men's Rugby Club was featured in a recent article in The Daily Pennsylvanian. Staff writer Jimmy Lengyel drew heavily from the insights of coaches and members of the Penn's team for his article, titled "Is Rugby America's Next Top Sport?"
Lengyel's article mostly focuses on the viability of rugby as a top sport in the United States. On top of describing the ins and outs of rugby from a technical standpoint, Lengyel also explores the current state of collegiate rugby through interviews with members of the Penn team.

Dartmouth brought three teams to the Ivy Sevens Championships this weekend and left with all three sides in a celebratory mood. The first and second teams both competed in the top tier of the tournament and both reached the finals.
Dartmouth’s 2nd VII got the opportunity to round out the top tier bracket in place of Penn, who instead competed in, and won, the City Six 7s tournament in Philadelphia to qualify for the CRC at the end of the spring.

A renowned neurosurgeon and leader in the field of sports concussion research has criticized the International Rugby Board's stance on chronic brain trauma in an interview with PlanetRugby.com. Dr. Robert Cantu, co-director of Boston University's Center for the Study of Traumatic Encephalopathy, says that he and his team have strong evidence to suggest rugby players are being affected by a chronic, debilitating neurological disease that is a direct result of their rugby careers.

In one of the most hard-fought matches of the entire season, the Harvard Women's Rugby Team defeated #1 seed Dartmouth to win the Fall 2013 Ivy Rugby Championship. Harvard put their first try of the game on the board just six minutes in and didn't look back from there; the Crimson were up 12-0 at half, and finished the day with a 29-0 shutout win.
