DWRC Qualifies For National Round of 16
The DWRC secured its 10th bid into the National Collegiate Division I Round of Sixteen with a come-from-behind win against an aggressive Cornell side. The 17-15 nail-biter was a hard-fought, gritty match in which both teams had everything to prove and the winner would receive the third and final seed from the Northeast into the “Big Show”. (Army beat Brown on Sunday to take the first and second seeds, respectively.)

No surprises here: Army and Brown played in the Northeast Women's DI College Championship. The two teams have separated themselves from the rest of the pack, but this weekend proved that the teams are still works in progress.
Dartmouth Women Take 3rd in NRU, 17-15 over Cornell
Heading to nationals by capturing the 3rd NRU seed is Dartmouth, after a 17-15 win over Cornell.
"It was a dog fight," Dartmouth coach Deb Archambault said. "Both teams were holding nothing back and really wanted that third seed to Nationals."
2011 Brown University Rugby Team Officers Selected
At the fall team dinner on Tuesday evening, November 16, the team was rewarded with a Brown Refectory catered dinner. The purpose of the evening was to review the fall season, select the Class of 1991 Award winners and elect the new officers for 2011. Winter weight training has already begun and plans are underway for the spring schedule.

Three teams will advance There are two tiers of women's DI rugby in the northeast, the Army and Brown tier, and the everyone else tier. And that separation was made apparent this weekend during the NRU semifinals.
Cornell Women play tough v. Army, but bow 10-27
The Cornell Women took on top ranked Army this past weekend in the Northeast Semi-finals held in Brunswick, Maine.
The USMA (Army) defeated Cornell 27-10. The close proximity of the contest drew some concern from Army coach Will Riddle, who said that the team was going to need to play a lot better to beat Brown in the final.
Brown Women score 6 second half tries defeat Yale 51-0
Brown shut out Yale 51-0, but only took a 15-point lead into the half. "They're big and athletic," Brown coach Kerri Heffernan said of Yale, "but they don't have any depth, which must be hard for them. They gave us some trouble, and we didn't look that great in the first half. But after the halftime talk, we adjusted and started playing some really pretty 15s rugby."
Cornell Women 29, UConn 5
Cornell Women, representing Upstate NY, marked the lone non-NERFU win for all of women's Northeast DI and DII playoff matches this weekend. The New York State champion used the miserable freezing rain and muddy conditions to produce a 29-7 victory over the University of Connecticut.
