Cornell Women play tough v. Army, but bow 10-27
Saturday, November 13, 2010
The Cornell Women took on top ranked Army this past weekend in the Northeast Semi-finals held in Brunswick, Maine.
The USMA (Army) defeated Cornell 27-10. The close proximity of the contest drew some concern from Army coach Will Riddle, who said that the team was going to need to play a lot better to beat Brown in the final.
"Against Cornell, our tackling technique wasn't there and our decision-making in the backline needed work," Riddle explained. Team captain Sylvia Thomas corralled the team after the Cornell match, made sure their heads were screwed on straight, and got everyone in line for their Sunday match against Brown.
Because of the loss, Cornell drew Dartmouth, the loser of the of the semi-final match (Brown vs. Dartmouth).
