Dartmouth Defeats Cornell in 2005 Ivy Championship

Conshohocken, PA -- Philadelphia-Whitemarsh, the Penn Rugby and our title sponsor Royall Lyme couldn’t have picked a better day for rugby yesterday as the Royall Lyme 2005 Rugby Ivy League Championship got under way at A.A. Garthwaite Stadium in Conshohocken, PA. The weather was warm and sunny with a little breeze. Perfect rugby weather for the players and 500 fans.

Dartmouth Places Third in the 2003 Ivy League Tournament

The Dartmouth RFC placed third in the 2003 Ivy League Tournament, hosted by Dartmouth at the NYAC facility on Travers Island, Pelham, NY. It was the first time in 6 years that Dartmouth failed to take home the championship cup.

1994: Harvard Men Ivy Champions

Harvard, which started collegiate rugby by playing the first match in the 1870s, added to its proud history yesterday by winning its third Ivy League title in six years at the 28th Annual Miller Reserve Cherry Blossom Rugby Tournament at the Reflecting Pool fields.

This was the first year the Ivy League tournament, which began in 1969, was played outside of New England. "In the shadow of the monument, it's amazing to play in," said Harvard co-captain Jim Kryzanski.

Harvard's "A" side rugby team swept the Ivy League tournament Saturday and Sunday without losing a game, dropping Princeton. 18-0, in the semifinals, and Yale, 33-12 in the finals. Harvard's "B" side, the only "B" side in the double-elimination tournament, upset Penn and Dartmouth on route to a third-place finish.
