Dartmouth Men Head to Collegiate Rugby Championship
The Dartmouth College men’s rugby team travels to Philadelphia this weekend for the Collegiate Rugby Championship at PPL Park.
The Dartmouth Rugby Club has been a dynamic presence in the CRC since the tournament's initiation in 2010. Back to back champions in 2011 and 2012, Dartmouth displayed poise and serious grit as they pulled out a last second victory over Arizona to advance to the elimination round in 2013. After a disappointing last minute loss to UCLA in the quarterfinals, the Dartmouth sevens squad is looking to make another championships run in 2014.
Dartmouth, honorarily invited to the tournament due to their historic impact, validated a return trip in 2014 with successful sevens play in the fall, winning the Ivy League sevens tournament and placing third in the nation at the USA national sevens tournament in North Carolina.
Dartmouth is pleased to be one of two teams representing the Ivy League (the other being Penn) in this year's CRC tournament and is excited about their 12 man roster, which boasts an array of crossover athletes, tested veterans and new talent. Notable starters for the Big Green include Madison Hughes, '15, who spent the winter on the international sevens circuit as a United States Eagle, as well as Kevin Clark, '14, a member of both 2011 and 2012 CRC championship teams.
