Brown’s Flores Named Coach of the Year
Brown women’s rugby Head Coach Kathy Flores was named as USA Rugby Female Coach of the Year at the USA Rugby National Development Summit.
In the program's inaugural season at the varsity level, Flores led the formidable Brown squad to a 9-1 overall record, including a perfect 7-0 mark against Ivy League opponents. The Bears went on to defeat Dartmouth 42-5 in the Ivy Championship match.
Earning the league’s No. 1 overall seed, the Brown women defeated Navy in the ACRA round of 16 regionals at Vassar College last November before falling to Quinnipiac in the quarterfinals.
"I'm extremely honored to be the USA Rugby 2014 Female Coach of the Year," said Flores. "I want thank our players and coaches for their dedication to all of our hard work this season."
Flores and the Bears will return to action in March for the spring 7’s season, looking to maintain momentum from a successful autumn campaign.
