Brown Travels to Yale for 7s Tournament
Twenty two of Brown’s rugby squad traveled to Yale University to participate in a one day 7’s tournament in preparation for the Ivy 7’s Championship on November 10th at Princeton University.
Brown’s 7’s coach and ex USA Eagle 7’s player, John McGeachy has begun to transition the team over from the 15’s game into the more open 7’s style of play. With very little time to prepare, the players responded well with the hope that the weekend was enough to prepare the squad to take on the other Ivy teams next weekend. Thirteen Brown freshmen participated.
The players were divided into three groups: White, Red, and Brown. The White team participated against Dartmouth, Harvard, and Yale’s first sides. The other two teams participated against two other sides from Yale and Harvard, one other from Dartmouth, and a side from Mitchell College in New London. Unfortunately, due to “Sandy”, the Southern Division Ivy teams were not able to participate.
