Men's Collegiate Division 1 Playoff Structure Finalized

USA Rugby has finalized the 2010-2011 playoff structure for Collegiate Men’s Division I. The new structure was necessitated due to the massive restructure of the top-tier of college rugby after the launch of the Division I Premier Division.

Division I now consists of fifteen conferences, leaving much speculation as to how the 16th playoff seed was to be determined. The wait is over as the 16th playoff seed has been annouced as the runner-up of the Midwest East Conference. With Bowling Green poised to claim the Midwest East Championship, Indiana looks a good bet to secure the runner-up spot in the conference and set their site on the playoffs. Newcomers to Division I, Davenport and Miami of Ohio, will do their best to challenge for the additional playoff spot.

The remaining fifteen playoff bids will go to each of the conference champions across the country. The sixteen team playoff field is broken into four, four-team regionals which will allow for a much less cumbersome playoff buildup than in past seasons.
