Penn Rugby Continues to Bolster Their Coaching Staff
Penn Rugby are pleased to announce the addition of Fraser Stirling and Nick Hunter to their staff for the coming Rugby 7s season and XVs next Fall.
Fraser Stirling will joining the program as the 7s coach and the 1st XV backs coach. Nick Hunter will be fulfilling the role of Strength and Conditioning coach.
Coach Stirling is a native of Dumfries, Scotland. During his playing career he was involved in the Scottish age group setup, which moved to London and spent five seasons at London Scottish (National D3) and three at Esher (Nat 2 & 1), all at inside center. Stirling also has extensive experience in Rugby League where he was capped for Scotland as a player and now is involved as a coach for the Philadelphia Fight and USA National Team.
Nick Hunter hails from Virginia, is an NSCA Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist and has played rugby for over ten years, most competitively in the Canterbury Metro competition in Christchurch, New Zealand. He has trained under NZ sports coaching staff such as Lee Attrill and Jason Tiatia and has 6 years as a professional athletic performance specialist, working with clubs, teams, and individual athletes of amateur and professional ranks.
Coach Hunter specializes in bio mechanically correct athletic technique and conditioning training, sports specific resistance training instruction and programming and rugby team building. Nick has taught in North Philadelphia public schools and considers Philly home. He also plays and coaches at the city’s top senior team Division 1 Schuylkill River Rugby Club.
