Yale Rugby makes it to Quarterfinals in Vegas
Yale traveled to Las Vegas on Wednesday afternoon and arrived prepared and ready to complete in the Las Vegas 7’s. After a one sided victory in the first match versus Claremont Colleges, Yale gets defeated by U.C. Davis, but bounces back to defeat Nebraska and make it to the quarterfinals.
Brown and Yale make it to Day 2 of the CRC
After Day One of the USA 7s Collegiate Rugby Championship qualifier pool play, 16 teams remain in the Cup Round.
Bracket A
In Bracket A, Kutztown, Miami of Ohio and Air Force all ended the day 3-0. They are ranked according to point differencial, with Miami takings the #1 seed followed by KU and then Air Force. Three teams, UCLA, Delaware and New Mexico, all finished 2-1. Delaware takes the #4 seed with a +89 points differential, followed by New Mexico and then UCLA.

PPL Park just outside Philadelphia will host the USA 7s Collegiate Rugby Championships (CRC) June 4-5. With Central Washington winning the CRC Qualifier in Las Vegas, 12 of the teams set to attend: CWU, Utah, Cal, Arizona, LSU, Penn State, Army, Navy, Notre Dame, North Carolina, Temple and Boston College.
But there are four places left. Who gets them? Alex Goff (www.rugbymag.com) weights in on who he think the four teams should be.

Miles Craigwell recieved an honorable mention All-Ivy selection in his senior season as an outside linebacker on the Brown University football team. As a member of Brown's Class of 2009, Miles and his Brown teammates won the Ivy League Championship. Unfortunately for Brown, Miles did not play rugby in college.

On February 10-11, just outside the Las Vegas USA 7s stadium, Vegas will also host a Collegiate 7s CRC Qualifier, with the winner earning a spot at the CRC in Philadelphia, which will be broadcast once again on NBC.
Brown University has put its chips all in. Brown's head coach David LaFlamme has been "working the boys hard" back in Providence, RI as Brown hopes to grab that free pass to the CRC in June. "Eight out of the 12 selected Brown student athletes to attend this weekend are in the running for All-Ivy," chimed in LaFlamme in a recent interview.

As 7s rugby increases in popularity and the Olympics approach, Yale's ever-expanding rugby program has also increased its emphasis on the 7s game.
The Yale rugby team has entered a side into the Las Vegas 7s this weekend. The winner of this weekend's tournament will take the last opening in the Rugby 7s Championships to be played in Philadelphia and aired on NBC in early June.

THIS weekend tens of millions of eyes will be glued to television screens as the Pittsburgh Steelers meet the Green Bay Packers in the Super Bowl, which takes place in Arlington, Texas on February 6th. American aficionados of rugby union can only dream of the Croesian sums of money that are lavished on American football, a sport that vaguely resembles rugby in wimpish armour-plating. But although their resources are far more modest they have achieved some notable successes.

“It’s not always what you do that matters. It’s what you do next. Get up. Play on”. So goes the tagline from the latest full-length feature production to join the ranks of rugby movies like “Invictus” and “Forever Strong”. The film “Play On” was made possible largely through the efforts of two Dartmouth Rugby alumni; Dave Story Class of ’85 directed and co-wrote the film, while Class of ’87 alum and former USA 7’s Captain Al Dekin co-wrote and produced the movie.
