Dartmouth Women’s Rugby 57-0 over Princeton
HANOVER, N.H. – Dartmouth women’s rugby had a 57-0 victory over Princeton in a friendly 45-minute scrimmage at Brophy Field Saturday.
Nine different Dartmouth players ended up on the scoresheet. Junior Ashley DuPuis and sophomore Eva Kleinboth had two tries – their first of the season – to finish with 10 points apiece, while junior Kat Ramage scored one try and converted two for nine points. Classmate Alex Stendahl had four of the team’s six conversions for eight points.
Also contributing to the Green’s win with their first tries of the year were senior Katie Fuhs, and sophomores Berit DeGrandpre and Mary Tobin.
“Today was a good opportunity for our development players to put their hand up and they delivered with some really exciting passages of play,” head coach Katie Dowty said. “We focused on ball movement and executing the fundamentals, and we are really pleased with the growth we are seeing from all members of our squad. We are grateful for Princeton making the long trip up and are sure they will keep building. We appreciate that they embrace challenging themselves against the tough varsity competition in the Ivy League.”
Dartmouth will hit the road for the first and only time this regular season next Saturday, Oct. 7, to take on Ivy rugby rival Harvard at 1 p.m.
* In Ivy Conference standings, the game will be recorded as a forfeited match for Princeton and a bonus point win for Dartmouth.
