Brown Women to Compete in the CRC in Philadelphia
The Brown University Women's Rugby Team has been chosen as one of eight women's teams to compete in the USA Sevens Collegiate Rugby Championship! The Championship will be held in Philadelphia, PA June 4th and 5th and will feature the biggest and very best men’s and women's programs in the country and some of the top players in the USA.

With only seven players per team playing on the same size pitch as a 15’s rugby match, sevens rugby offers non-stop action where speed, athleticism and high scoring rule the day. Rugby Sevens will be an Olympic sport starting in 2016 and the USA Sevens Rugby Collegiate Championship Invitational offers fans a preview of the talent pool available for the U.S. Olympic team.
The teams included in this year’s tournament for women’s rugby include: Brown, Penn State, Army, Navy, Virginia, North Carolina, Princeton and Temple. Brown will be traveling with an impressive team including: Blaine Martin '11 and Izzy McKinnon '11 who are both in the collegiate elite pool a development program for the US National and Olympics teams. Izzy was also a 2010 All American and was recently voted 2011 Ivy player of the year. The team also boasts Chelsea Garber '12, a member of the US U20 team.
