Penn women blank Columbia 36-0
Saturday's rainy weather during the Penn and Columbia match did not help the first-game-of-the-season jitters for either team.
Penn got off to a slow start during the evening game, struggling with handling and the defensive pressure from Columbia. Finally at about the 20 minute mark, Emma Edoga (C’16) picked up a loose ball and broke down the field for the first try.
Penn was able to settle in and hold Columbia on D, but was unable to score again. The 2nd half saw Penn come out a little more settled, and they were able to score 5 times, with most of the tries coming from the pack.
Columbia had a couple of line breaks, but Penn never gave up, and hustled back to help their full back keep Columbia out of the try zone.
Tries came from Emma Edoga (C’16), Josey Oquendo (E’15), Bridget Amoako (C’17), Lucy Dawson (C’15), and Alexis Thompson (C’15), and Lucy Dawson (C’15), who went 3/6 on conversion attempts for a final score of 36-0.
