Brown women put up 101 points vs Columbia

Despite wet conditions Brown Women’s Rugby put 101 points on the visiting Columbia women at Marvel Field this past weekend.

From the first kickoff, Brown was on the move and scored their first try within 43 seconds of the opening whistle by inside center and Captain, Oksana Goretaya ’17. Columbia being very young and inexperienced could not handle the constant pressure by the Brown ruggers who seemed to be scoring at will though they put up a valiant effort. First half action saw the score at Brown 39 – Columbia 0.

Second half offered no respite to the visitors as Brown continued to bear down on Columbia from the likes of forwards Elisha Miles ’15, Captain Tiara Mack ’16 and Joanna Chatham ‘17. With tries coming from backs and forwards alike even freshman, Hannah Yi ’18 was able to score from a great support line to Kiki Morgan ’16 who scored 4 tries herself.

A welcome surprise was President Paxson who not only cheered us from the side but then joined the team for a big “squeeze”! Thank you for your support President Paxson!! And thank you to all who braved the threatening weather to come and support your favorite (we hope!) team – we love you all!!
