1st XV Princeton Men 29 - Harvard Men 7
Following an injury-ridden victory against the University of Pennsylvania, the HRFC traveled to New Jersey to compete against Princeton University. In order to replace the injuries to the starting fifteen from the previous day, Coach Dave Gonzales gave the nod to four new players who made their Ivy-League debut against the Tigers.
This impeded the HRFC’s strongest asset– its team chemistry. Consequently, the Harvard defense had trouble stopping the Princeton attack, which utilized timely offloads to sustain its momentum. Harvard’s offense fared slightly better than its defense, and the crimson scored a penalty try in the first half.
In the second half, Harvard had three scoring opportunities deep in Princeton’s territory; however, the HRFC could not punch any of them in for a try. The HRFC lost a well-fought game 28-7 to a tough Princeton side. Harvard will host Brown University this Saturday for its home opener.
