Bears Beat Rams in Spring Finale

Kingstown, Rhode Island - Brown won its final spring season match in convincing fashion, beating the University of Rhode Island 44-20. Brown faced a formidable opponent and another adversary in the driving wind, rain and 45 degree temperatures at match time. URI always has size and athleticism, but the weather foiled the Rams while Brown was able to use its team pattern, speed and commitment to win the match.

The game was hosted on IC's field. Cornell's co-captain Dan Cross '12 scored the opening try off of a maul. Ithaca then came back and evened the score. Before the half, Cornell's Charles Motzer '14 and co-captain Paulo Reis '12 put Cornell up two tries.

More specifically, they’re pitting the Old Boys against the young—the fat and out of shape against those with decades of practice at being fat and out of shape. Ever the sentimentalist, I flew back to the Morningside Heights campus to sit down with the current team and get their opinions on this hallowed milestone.
