Brown Men 2nd XV 19 - Cornell Men 7

Sunday, September 25, 2011

Cornell started out strongly scoring in the 15th minute.  The conversion gave Cornell an early 7-0 lead.

Late in the first half prop Ed Freidman  picked up the ball at the base of a ruck and through great individual effort dives into the try zone.  After a missed conversion Brown is still down by two.  (7-5 Cornell)

Freidman continued his aggressive play at the start of the second half with a strong run ending on the Cornell 15, but a knock on by the backs kills the scoring drive.  But Brown keeps the pressure on.  In the 5th minute of the second half, following a Brown line out inside the Cornell 22, the Bears maul toward the try line and ultimately pushed it in with a try by wing Collin Schofield’14.  Blair Cameron converted for a 12-7 Brown lead.

In the 18th minute the determined play of Freidman  payed off again as he stripped the ball from Cornell forward following a line out inside their own 5 meter and immediately dove into the try zone for his second try of the match.  Cameron missed the conversion ending the scoring with Brown winning 19-7.
