If you are anywhere near Stanford University today, stop by and cheer on the Women's National Final Four contender Brown University lead by head coach Kerri Heffernan as they look to take down last year's national champion Penn State University. Brown looked strong as they shut out all takers at the Ivies scoring 143 unanswered points.
Brown won two of three, beating Yale in round one, losing to Harvard in round two and coming back on Sunday to beat Penn ( who had beaten Princeton) for third place. What was characteristic for Brown was its commitment to the team pattern, solid defense and the inability of any of Brown’s opponents to outplay our forwards.
Dartmouth won the 2008 Ivy League Championship in what can only be described as extremely convincing fashion. Led by two tries from wing Dave Chattman, the Big Green destroyed Harvard 41-0 in the final.
The 2008 Men's Ivy League Rugby Championship tournament will be hosted by Columbia University this weekend. Dartmouth and Harvard are back strong this spring after playing in last year's final. Watch out for tournament host Columbia University, a much improved Yale side and Princeton who defeated Yale just last weekend.
The first two rounds of matches will be held on Saturday at Tibbet's Brook Park in Yonkers, NY. The final rounds will be held on Sunday at Columbia's Baker's Field Athletic Complex. After last year's Harvard victory at Brown, what will Dartmouth bring in 2008?
